-Summary: Dr. Borges' research area focuses on the study of the venoms produced by the fauna of arachnids and ophidians responsible for accidents in humans in South and Central America and the Caribbean, with the aim of elucidating the structural and functional diversity of their toxins, allowing the design of more effective therapeutic tools for the treatment of poisoned humans and making use of the specificity of their mechanisms of action to build new molecules with antiparasitic and microbicidal activity.
